Who Are You?

Hey, it’s been a while since I posted on the blog so I thought it would be a bit of fun to tell you a little bit about me and ask you to post a comment and tell us about you!
I started with computers when I was around 15 years old (I’m 45 now). My first encounter was with an old teletype machine that had one of those old adventure programs on it. It went something like this… you hit ‘S’ to go south and it would type something like ‘You see the entrance to a cave…’. I can remember how marvelous I thought that technology was! Anyway, from that point on I was hooked. I go into all sorts of programming, repairing, diagnosing, building etc.
I’ll keep this part short … basically, computers were a hobby until 1995 when I started an ISP business and a network consulting business. The ISP business still runs from myspare room (dialup access and some local web hosting…I have 8 servers in there). In 2005 I decided to pull away from my consulting business and ‘work in my underwear’. Well..not exactly but you probably know what I mean. I moved my office back home and that’s where I’m writing this from.
Enough about computers. I’ve also played several musical instruments…violin and saxophone when I was at school and guitar for the past 20 years or so. I was in a few local bands when I was in my 20′s .. mainly playing 50′s rock and roll music. Nowadays I pick the guitar up every now and then .
I am a single parent with a 17 year old daughter who has lived with me for the past 7 years. I’ve always enjoyed being a parent and regret that I didn’t have more kids. My ex and I parted ways when my daughter was 1 year old and I’ve not had a partner since then.
Nowadays I look after WhirlwindTraffic, do heaps of programming and pretty much live online during the day and part of the evening. It’s not unusual for me to be up, like now, at 2.30am .. knowing that I have to be up at 8am to get my daughter motivated and off to school 
.

My name is Jesus Moreno. I am from Mexico, so my first name must be pronounced with an accent on the “u”.
I really don’t have much to say. Since some years ago I have trying to stop being an internet and affiliate marketer wannabe. I belong to a lot of programs and I feel myself a victim of the “information overwhelmed” stuff. No doubt I have learned many things I didn’t know they existed. Beginning from to use a PC, a little of simple web pages design, internet advertising and so for, ftp, hosting, domaine names, etc.
But the most important part, making money, it’s not for me yet. I have made sporadic sales and it feels good to see those results.
I wont make this any longer. I only expect myself and every person in my same case to reach a moment in which things come to be better in all senses.

G’day. Not often you get to share something with a 7 day old person is it? But here you can!
Let me explain;
Last Monday I was doing what I often do, surfing the i/net.
As I was doing so, I noticed a ‘different’ feeling, like a reflux in my digestive system. Told my wife, and because the same had happened the day prior, she suggested a doctor should check me out; “Go down there now”, she said as it was middayish and she was caring for our Grandaughter. I suggested that as it was such an unusual feeling, she should drive just in case it was something worse than expected.
On the way, my condition went into distress, tiredness, yawning, in short…not too good at all!
I was having a heart attack! Totally unprepared! Reasonably good health at most times, arriving at Dr. surgery, was immediately put where ‘first-aid’ could be applied until ambo’s arrived. It was lights and sirens most of the way to hospital where the most profficient team I’ve ever seen took over, prepped and operated, finishing about 4 hours after first symptoms appeared.
Who would have thought…..and that’s why I suggest you are now talking with a 7 day old! I could have been discussing things with the Grim Reaper back then….but thanks to the team at ‘MONASHheart’, I’m as fit as a Malley Bull again.
That’s the present; my past i’net experience is like lots on here, been dabbling for years, achieved little, trying HARD to find a way, looking for that elusive link that will transport us into the ‘realm of the earning’.
You see, I’m one of the ‘OLDER BRIGADE’! One who is learning the hard way. We first of all have to master the equipment, the tools, the language before we even START to commit ourselves to the actions needed to get anywhere at all on the i’net! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind learning things; like my recent experience, it’s been an excellent learning curve FOR LIFE!
Anyway, my 11 children and 14 Grandchildren, although they are never around when I need i/net help, they are glad to see ‘the old man’ up-and-about, fighting over computer time with them!
A word of warning to all men!
TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOUR LIFESTYLE! (Ladies too, but apparently not so critical for you). Unfortunately fellas, believe me, it can happen at any time; “Male, Over 50, family history, overweight, stress, high cholesterole”, just a few of the pre-cursors.

Wow Ron … glad to hear that you were smart enough to see your doctor before it was too late. Makes you wonder how many people just brush off the symptoms though, and end up … not living to regret it! Hope you have an excellent Christmas … but don’t over do it!

I just got your email about your first experience with computers and it reminded me of something.
I have only been online a couple of years but, back in the 80s I was selling software for a company in N. Carolina and got a brand new Toshiba Laptop that you carried in a shoulder bag that weighed what seemed like about 40 lbs. or so ( I may be exaggerating a bit). It was heavy though and anyway, I found a floppy disc of the original “Adventure game”. It was written back when they used mainframe computers as big as a washing machine.
I believe it was the one you were talking about where you go down in a cave (you were called a sprelunker I think) and there were little creatures that threw hatchets at you and tried to kill you.
You carry a little bird and a lantern and you were searching for treasure I think.
A real mind game, very addictive. I played it till the wee hour many nights.
